Andhra University College of Engineering was established in 1955 with Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering disciplines.
The first principal of this 60 year old institution was Prof. (Late) C. Venkata Rao succeeded by Prof. (Late) D. Seethapathi Rao and other luminaries.
The foundations laid by these visionaries proved to be fruitful in the succeeding decades elevating the college to its present status. The Engineering College has the distinction of having Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardees etc., as its alumni.
The alumni of the College of Engineering have their foot prints in the Government, Central and State undertakings, Research organizations Defence forces etc., A large number of alumni have been the torch-bearers are settled and working in countries like USA, UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Russia and so on.
AUEC Alumni Association was formed in the year 2014 with the following important objectives.
To provide a forum to establish a link between the Alumni, Faculty, and Students of all disciplines of the college of Engineering, Andhra University.
To organize conferences, and seminars related to all branches of engineering to share useful and latest knowledge.
To arrange lectures on Career Guidance and Personality Development.
To engage in social activities for the benefit of the society around it.
To encourage academic activities by instituting cash awards.
To honour members who excelled in their respective careers.
To form a study circle for the benefit of the students.
To develop a garden and maintain it within the engineering college campus to support the Green Revolution.
The Alumni Association of the College of Engineering is very active in extending support to the institution in all spheres. In fact, every individual department has its own Alumni Association actively engaged in enrolment of members, encouraging them to contribute for the development of the departments in all possible ways. The alumni are supporting financially for the development of infrastructure and equipping laboratories. One of our successful alumni Shri. Y.S.R. Venkata Rao through their trust has liberally donated Rs.2.5 crores for construction of 300 capacity state of art auditorium in the name of his father Dr. Y.V.S. Murthy.
Engineering College Alumni of 1981-85 batch have donated Rs 70 lakhs for the construction of a 6 bed hospital at North campus. Sri G Mallikarjuna Rao, an alumnus of this college has donated Rs. 10 lakhs for construction of Andhra University Teachers Association office. Many alumni instituted prizes and medals, granted scholarships to meritorious students, donated books to the departmental libraries and supported infrastructural facilities in respective departments. Further, the alumni regularly interact, motivate, guide, encourage and help the students to shape their careers.
To provide a forum to establish a link between the Alumni, Faculty and students of all disciplines of AU College of Engineering (comprising 1st Batch. Since 1959 onwards) to organise lectures on all disciplines of Engineering with a view to pass on the rich experience and latest information by the experienced alumni to the students as well as share their views.
To help the students prepare for various competitive examinations by way of counselling by experts among the alumni in the concerned fields as well as provide the final year students a platform to establish a startup facility to establish small and medium scale industries.
To encourage and inspire the students in their academic activity by instituting cash awards to the meritorious students.
To establish and maintain a rich library for the use by the students and faculty as well.
To encourage voluntary donations to assist in the establishment, maintenance, running, development, Improvement and extension of old age homes / orphanage centres and other similar institutions to alleviate human suffering.
To undertake community development programmes for the upliftment of economically backward, physically and mentally challenged students of the society and construct and develop community centres for carrying out such activities.
