After the opening remarks of the Presiding officer the Treasurer's report was read out. Based on a suggestion by the Registrar it was agreed that in future the copies of audited accounts will be circulated to the members rather than the Treasurer reading out all the figures.
To facilitate making travel plans by the members in advance it was proposed to convene the AGM on the 2nd Sunday of December every year.
The progress on Alumni Hostel Building was updated by Sri MV Rao, the Project Coordinator. The revised project cost is 3.5 cr. The donations received so far amount to 3.1 cr. It was proposed to reach out to all Batches with an Appeal to support the cause and make up the shortfall.
The Hon Vice Chancellor informed that the Centenary Celebrations of Andhra University will kick start from the year 2023 onwards. He also gave an elaborate account of various academic activities in the University and appreciated the role of Alumni.

Sri K.V.V.Rao of 1973 Batch was elected as the President and Associate Prof Dr G.Rambabu of 1997 Batch as the General Secretary of the Association. Sri AR Naushad will continue as the Treasurer for one more year. As on date the total membership is 1232. All the members present were requested to encourage new members to enroll to bring up the total membership to 2000 by the end of next year.

SOME MAJOR ACTIVITIES TAKEN UP SO FAR ARE AS FOLLOWS
In the year 2014 a fully air conditioned Auditorium with 300 seating capacity was constructed and gifted to college of engineering by the family members of Dr. Y.V.S.MURTY who has graduated in chemical engineering in the year 1953 from AU. The project cost is about Rs. 2.40 crores and it is presently the best auditorium in the college of engineering and being used for many important events.
THE 1985 BATCH OF Alumni has constructed a medical centre costing Rs 80 lakhs with all facilities for the benefits of students and employees
During the annual meeting rewards were distributed to meritorious students of several branches of engineering.A hostel Block by the association is being constructed with 3 stories 2 bedded 42 rooms for boys with an estimated cost of Rs 3.50 crores. A 600 sft area earmarked in the ground floor for the Alumni Association office. The building is proposed to be inaugurated in the month of April, 2023.
ALUMNI HOSTEL BLOCK INAUGURATION
The Hostel building, financed, designed and built entirely by the members of AU Engineering
College Alumni Association, is named after Bharata Ratna Sir Mokshagundam
Visvesvaraya, the illustrious and world renowned Civil Engineer, who inspired the
Engineering fraternity the world over.
The Hostel building houses 45 fully furnished rooms of double - occupancy on three (3)
floors with provision to build a fourth floor. A black top approach road, rain water harvesting
pit and solar street lighting were provided for the building. All the rooms were provided with
steel cots and BLDC fans. A Reading Room & Recreation Hall is also available. The Dining
Hall is named after Prof T Venugopal Rao, former Principal & HOD Mechanical Department.
The building also houses an Alumni Office cum Meeting Hall.
Justice Shri S Abdul Nazeer, Hon'ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Chancellor of Andhra
University, inaugurated the AUEC Alumni Association Hostel building, together with
two other Hostel Buildings, namely,
1. Bharat - The G20 Presidency Hostel
2. The Shatabdi Classic Hostel
on 09th September 2023 virtually from AU Convocation Theater at North Campus of AU
Engineering College Hostel Complex.

2. Prof VS Raju, an alumnus of 1960 (Civil Engg), former Professor and Dean, ICSR, IIT
Madras and Director, IIT Delhi, delivered a Special lecture on 26th April 2023 on the
“Present Day Challenges for Civil Engineers” on the occasion of 98th Andhra
University Formation Day. The lecture was attended by the Faculty & students of CIvil
Engineering Dept and the Executive Committee members of the AUEC Alumni
Association.

3. The “Achievers’ Day Felicitation Function was organised in the AU Convention Centre
on 01st May 2023 by the AU College of Engineering & AU College of Engineering for
Women to felicitate the students, who got selected in Campus Placements, and
honour their parents.
Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy, our Honourable Vice Chancellor, was the Chief Guest at the
event. The Rector of AU, Prof K Samatha, Registrar of AU, Prof V Krishna Mohan,
Principal AUCE, Prof Sasibhushana Rao and Principal AUCEW, Prof SK Bhatti were
also present at the function.

The lecture was delivered by Sri GV Subbarao (an alumnus of 1970 Mechanical Engineering
Branch) in association with his daughter Ms. Swetha Gavirneni, online. The title of the
lecture was, “If Possible, Make it Better. And it is Alwsys Possible”.
Sri KVV Rao, the Association President and Sri N Veerabhadra Rao & Commodore BR Raju
(Retd), our Advisors, have graced the event in the Mechanical Engineering Department,
where it was organised. Over 170 students have also gathered in the hall, where the event
was streamed.

Sri Subbarao is the President & CEO while Ms. Swetha is the Operations Executive of
Klimak Srl-Italy, a major producer & supplier of Air-handling equipment and systems across
the world. Recognising his individual contribution to the Italian industry Sri Subbarao was
conferred L’Onorificenza di Commendatore (Legion of Honor as a Commander) by the
President of The Italian Republic in the year 2008.
Sri VR Rao, the Senior Advisor, and over 25 students of the Department have attended the
lecture online with the help of the Google link provided.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
A Charitable Trust titled “1964-69 AU Engineers Charitable Trust “ was formed by 1969 Batch and the following “Community outreach programs” were carried out under that banner
1. A GVMC primary school in the fishermen's colony in MVP colony Visakhapatnam was adopted for 5 (five) years from 2009 to 2014 under "Sweekaram Project" and over Rs. 7 Lakhs was spent in improving their infrastructure, providing a Digital Classroom and conducting evening classes.
2. Rs. 2.5 lakhs was donated to the “Hud Hud Cyclone Relief Fund” to the Dist Collector, Visakhapatnam in October 2014.
3. Rs. 2.0 lakhs was donated to the Principal, AU College of Engg in December 2014 to help repair damages caused by Hud Hud Cyclone.
4. Supported a Govt Blind School on the Beach Road by providing 80 inmates with gift hampers of toiletries and Scholarships for 6 months to cover their monthly expenses by spending nearly Rs. 25,000/-
5. Provided blankets & bath towels to over 25 inmates of “Rahul Society Old Age Home” in Palakol in December 2015.
6. Provided blankets to over 100 tribals in Araku valley in March 2016.

Created an Endowment of Rs. 2.0 lakhs in 2018 with the Principal, AU College of Engineering, the annual revenue out of which is to be used to award Cash Prizes to toppers in their Final Year of Engg.

Sir M Visvesvaraya Hostel, donated by AUEC Alumni Association, enters “main stream” today (6th July 2024), when the first lot of students occupied their allotted rooms.
The President, Secretary & Treasurer of the AUEC Alumni Association greeted & welcomed them and wished them a “Happy Stay”.
